19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is his initial title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
The win also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.
He saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
